Technical Information
Details about the Product
Made from an original flywheel, it has been machined to reduce its weight by 1.5 kg while retaining its original mounting specifications. This weight reduction lowers engine inertia: the engine revs up faster and responds more readily to the throttle, for a more dynamic and responsive drive. The flywheel is balanced to ensure optimal operation.
Ideal as part of an engine upgrade, it is particularly well suited to Burton vehicles or for use with a 652 cc engine kit.
Role of the flywheel
An essential engine component, the flywheel is bolted directly to the crankshaft. It smooths out engine rotation between combustion cycles and connects to the clutch assembly to transmit torque to the gearbox. Its ring gear also allows the starter motor to turn the engine over when starting.
Benefits
• 1.5 kg lighter than the original flywheel.
• Reduced inertia for quicker revving.
• Sharper throttle response and a more dynamic driving feel.
• Balanced flywheel.
Technical specifications
• Type: later-type lightened flywheel
• Engine: Citroën 602cc
• Fitment: vehicles from 03/1982, depending on equipment
• Clutch compatibility: later-type diaphragm clutch assemblies, part numbers 1013371 or 1013301
• Location: rear of the engine, between the crankshaft and the clutch/gearbox assembly
• Weight reduction: 1.5 kg compared with the original
Fitting advice
Before installation, be sure to check that the flywheel is compatible with your vehicle's clutch assembly (part numbers 1013371 or 1013301).
When fitting, make sure the flywheel is correctly positioned on the crankshaft and use suitable bolts, tightened to the manufacturer's recommended torque settings.
Please note: due to its reduced inertia, a lightened flywheel offers sharper throttle response but stores less energy at low engine speeds than a standard flywheel.
