Exhaust pipe under gearbox 602cc – stainless steel

The 602 cc under-gearbox exhaust box, also known as an expansion chamber, is manufactured from 304 stainless steel sheet (AISI 304 – X6CrTi12), in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications regarding material, dimensions and assembly method, in order to guarantee quality and performance strictly identical to the original part. This stainless steel, composed in particular of 0.06% carbon, approximately 12.5% chromium and enriched with titanium, is widely used in the automotive industry and exhaust systems for its excellent mechanical properties and durability.

Stainless steel 304 offers very good tensile strength and high resistance to mechanical stress, ensuring long service life and excellent durability over time. Its outstanding corrosion resistance effectively protects the exhaust system against rust, moisture and the aggressive effects of exhaust gases, even under demanding operating conditions. Its high ductility allows precise forming without the risk of cracking, ensuring a perfect fit and strict compliance with original dimensions. In addition, its ability to perform at both low and high temperatures makes it perfectly suited for components exposed to the intense heat of exhaust gases.

As the first element of the exhaust system, the under-gearbox exhaust box collects gases from both cylinders at the outlet of the air heat exchangers and directs them into a single outlet leading to the muffler and then to the rear exhaust of the vehicle. It is mounted under the gearbox using two M7 x 20 hex-head bolts with lock washers under the head, and is connected to the other exhaust components by three clamps: two 49 mm diameter inlet clamps, one for each pipe, and one 47 mm diameter outlet clamp, with a 490 mm center-to-center distance between the inlet pipes.

Thanks to the natural and long-lasting shine of 304 stainless steel, this exhaust box also provides a premium aesthetic finish, enhancing the exhaust line while offering long-term protection against the effects of time.
