Windscreen or rear arm bump stop

Dual-purpose rubber buffer designed to absorb mechanical impacts and protect various components of the Méhari. Depending on its mounting position, it can be used either as a rear suspension arm bump stop or as a windscreen frame buffer.

1. Use as a rear suspension arm bump stop

Mounted directly to the chassis beside each rear suspension arm, this bump stop limits the suspension's maximum travel under heavy compression.

Its functions include:

. preventing the suspension arm from striking the chassis;
. cushioning impacts at the end of the suspension travel;
. protecting the suspension arm, chassis and surrounding components;
. reducing mechanical stress and noise during heavy suspension compression.

Two bump stops are required for the complete rear axle, one on each side of the vehicle. Any hardened, cracked, compressed or missing bump stop should be replaced to ensure effective and balanced suspension travel limitation.

2. Use as a windscreen buffer

The same component can be fitted to new-model and Azur windscreen frames. In this configuration, it is installed together with the aluminium buffer support, part no. 0600300.

The buffer provides a flexible contact surface that:

. cushions contact with the windscreen frame;
. prevents direct contact between metal components;
. protects surfaces from impacts, vibrations and friction;
. helps ensure the windscreen is correctly supported and positioned.

The corresponding complete windscreen assemblies each include two buffers and two aluminium supports:

. New-model aluminium windscreen, part no. 06001120;
. Azur windscreen, part no. 06001020.

In summary, the buffer, part no. 0600400, is a versatile cushioning component. When fitted to the chassis, it limits the travel of the rear suspension arms. When combined with its aluminium support, it protects and cushions the windscreen's contact points.
